You’re your own pharmacist, or how to release endorphins just by moving.

I've got a child birth analogy for you (applies to anyone who’s ever done anything difficult, physical or otherwise):

One of my friends told me that taking BBP prepared her for natural childbirth better than anything else she tried.

Actually lots of friends and clients have told me this.

Why?

Because holding isometric postures, working beyond our comfort zones, and putting a little bit of temporary stress on the body develops an awareness that physical pain is something we can transcend by moving through it.

In other words: if you don’t quit, you get stronger.

As you get stronger, your tolerance for discomfort increases, and then….. just like that…we change.

Uplevel. Transition. Develop a new baseline. Continue getting better. Even as we age. (Especially as we age, actually.)

And that, my friends, is something to remember: Change is the result of discomfort. In exercise, and in life.

When you move through and beyond that discomfort, you get rewarded. With growth (hypertrophy in the case of muscles! Perspective in the case of life) and also: ENDORPHINS.

Here’s how: Science tells us that beta-endorphins are primarily synthesized by the pituitary gland in response to physiologic stressors(pain/exercise).

Now this is interesting: The word endorphin comes from the word endogenous which means “within the body” and morphine which is an opioid analgesic.

So you're basically your own pharmacist is what I'm telling you.

Meaning you have the ability to affect your overall sense of well-being just by... moving.

Start with this: A free ten minute workout to get your endorphins pumping.

(p.s. this whole series is free to you for the next 7 days—it's five ten minute workouts that focus on abs, butt, upper body, mobility, and cardio. Let me know what you think!)
